More to Know
Procedures & Methods
Dear Wisdom Tree Families,
We are so excited to welcome you and your little one to our school family!
๏ปฟBelow you will find important information and friendly reminders to help ensure a smooth and successful school year for everyone. We share this with the utmost respect, care, and love for our Wisdom Tree families, and we truly appreciate your cooperation and open communication.
๐ Separation AT Drop-Off & PICK-UP
Children may be sensitive to separating from you, and that is completely normal. Some children may cry or scream at drop-off, especially during the first few days—or even a few days into the program. Please know this is all part of the adjustment process.
If this occurs, we will call you once your child is settled in the classroom to give you an update. Some children experience no separation difficulties at all, while others may need a little extra reassurance. We are committed to supporting every child with patience, love, and understanding.
๏ปฟ
You may also notice that some children cry at pick-up. This often happens because seeing their parent again brings out big emotions—sometimes simply because they are happy and relieved that you came back. This is very common, and we see it often.
๐ช Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Drop-off and pick-up take place at the front door. Due to limited space, parents are not permitted to enter the school.
๏ปฟDoors open promptly at the start of class. For example, if your child’s class begins at 9:00 a.m., the doors will open at 9:00 a.m., as teachers are busy preparing the classroom beforehand.
At dismissal, please be waiting outside the door at your child’s scheduled pick-up time. We understand that things happen—if you are running late, please call the school to inform us. If you are late more than three times, a late fee of $1 per minute will apply.
๐งผ Health & Hygiene
To help reduce the spread of germs, hand sanitizer will be used when children enter the classroom and before snack time.
๐ Backpacks & PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Each child must have a large backpack containing:
- A complete change of clothes
- Diapers or pull-ups, if applicable
Please be sure all items are clearly labeled with your child’s name.
๐ฌ Communication & UPDATES
- In-person Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in March to discuss your child’s progress.
- Monthly class newsletters are sent via email.
- Please check your child’s communication folder regularly for completed work and important notes.
- Be sure notifications are turned on for the Remind App, and notify your lead teacher if you are not receiving messages.
โ๏ธ SUPPLIES
You will receive a supply list from your child’s lead teacher. There will be two designated days before school begins to drop off supplies. All items must be labeled with your child’s name.
๏ปฟ
Throughout the school year, we may request replenishment of supplies. Donations of copy paper, baby wipes, tissues, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, and Ziploc bags are always greatly appreciated.
๐ SCHOOL CALENDAR & EVENTS
- A full school calendar with important dates will be provided before the first day of school.
- We host a Teacher Meet & Greet prior to the start of the school year
๐ Snack & Lunchbox GUIDELINES
All snacks and cups must be placed in a clearly labeled lunchbox. If a lunchbox is not labeled, we will label it using masking tape to ensure safety and organization.
Please note:
- We are a peanut-free and nut-free school.
- No glass containers are permitted. ๐ซ
- Foods not allowed due to choking hazards include: popcorn, candy, celery, carrots, hot dogs/meat, meat sticks/jerky, beans, corn, and peas.
- Please cut grapes, strawberries, apples, cucumbers, and cheese sticks before sending them to school.
๐ซง CLASSROOM CLEANING
After toys are played with, they are placed in a designated bucket and cleaned after class.
๐ต Tuition & PAYMENTS
Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. Payments received after the 3rd will incur a $35 late fee.
๏ปฟ
Accepted payment methods:
- Check (made payable to WT Of Miller Place INC.)
- Cash
- Zelle
If you anticipate being late, please communicate with us before the 3rd, and we will gladly waive the late fee. Failure to communicate will result in the late fee being applied.
๐ REGISTRATION & ENROLLMENT
To register, families must pay:
- The registration fee, and
- June tuition (last month of the school year)
These payments are non-refundable if you withdraw. Tuition is then paid monthly from September through May๏ปฟ
๐ซ DONATIONS
We happily accept donations of books and toys—when you clean out the playroom, send them our way!
โ๏ธ Weather Closures
In the event of snow or school closings, updates will be posted on:
- News 12
- Facebook
- Instagram
- Remind App / Homeroom App
๐คง ILLNESS POLICY
This is not always an easy question to answer, and we understand how challenging it can be for families. The following guidelines are meant to help you decide when it is best for your child to remain home from school.
A child who is not feeling well is often unable to fully participate in classroom activities and may unintentionally spread illness to other children and staff.
Children may not return to school if they have experienced any of the following within the past 24 hours:
- A fever of 100°F or higher, taken orally, without the use of fever-reducing medication
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Strep throat or conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Children may return to school only after they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours, unless otherwise stated in a doctor’s note.
Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy and safe environment for all of our children and staff. Your cooperation and partnership are greatly appreciated.
๐ CLASS PARTIES, SECRET READER & BIRTHDAYS
- For class parties, 2–3 parents will be invited by the lead teacher. We ensure every child has the opportunity for a parent to attend if they wish.
- Party sign-ups and item lists will be posted at the door one week prior.
- We also host a Secret Reader, ensuring each child has a chance to participate.
- Birthdays are celebrated—even summer birthdays! Please contact your lead teacher at least one week in advance. All treats must be store-bought with ingredient labels.๏ปฟ
โฐ Before & After Care
We offer 30 minutes of before care or after care for 2½-hour classes only (not available for 3-hour classes).
- Available at daily or monthly rates
- One option only (before or after care)
- Please notify us one week in advance๏ปฟ
๐ BABYSITTING REFERENCES
If you are looking for an occasional date-night babysitter, feel free to reach out to us for references.
๐ Required Documents BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS
Please provide:
- Updated immunization record
- Copy of driver’s license for all approved pick-up persons
- Written notice of any pick-up restrictions
- EPI-PEN documentation and instructions, if applicable
๏ปฟThese can be submitted during the Meet & Greet.
