More to Know
Procedures & Methods
Dear Wisdom Tree Families,
We are so excited to welcome you and your little one to our school family!
๏ปฟBelow you will find important information and friendly reminders to help ensure a smooth and successful school year for everyone. We share this with the utmost respect, care, and love for our Wisdom Tree families, and we truly appreciate your cooperation and open communication.
๐ Separation AT Drop-Off & PICK-UP
Children may be sensitive to separating from you, and that is completely normal. Some children may cry or scream at drop-off, especially during the first few days—or even a few days into the program. Please know this is all part of the adjustment process.
If this occurs, we will call you once your child is settled in the classroom to give you an update. Some children experience no separation difficulties at all, while others may need a little extra reassurance. We are committed to supporting every child with patience, love, and understanding.
๏ปฟ
You may also notice that some children cry at pick-up. This often happens because seeing their parent again brings out big emotions—sometimes simply because they are happy and relieved that you came back. This is very common, and we see it often.
๐ช Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Drop-off and pick-up take place at the front door. Due to limited space, parents are not permitted to enter the school.
Doors open promptly at the start of class. For example, if your child’s class begins at 9:00 a.m., the doors will open at 9:00 a.m., as teachers are busy preparing the classroom beforehand.
At dismissal, please be waiting outside the door at your child’s scheduled pick-up time. We understand that things happen—if you are running late, please call the school to inform us. If you are late more than three times, a late fee of $1 per minute will apply.
We have adjusted class times from previous school years to help make drop-off and pick-up easier for parking and traffic flow.
For parking lot safety, we kindly ask that children not play in front of our neighboring suites, as the businesses next door are actively conducting business throughout the day.
๐งผ Health & Hygiene
To help reduce the spread of germs, children will use hand sanitizer when entering the classroom and before snack time. We also have air purifiers in all classrooms, and toys are cleaned regularly throughout the day.
๐ Backpacks & PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Each child must have a large backpack containing:
- A complete change of clothes
- Diapers or pull-ups, if applicable
Please be sure all items are clearly labeled with your child’s name.
๐ฌ Communication & UPDATES
- In-person Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in March to discuss your child’s progress.
- Monthly class newsletters are sent via email.
- Please check your child’s communication folder regularly for completed work and important notes.
- Be sure notifications are turned on for the Remind App, and notify your lead teacher if you are not receiving messages.
๏ปฟ
Remind App messages may be read by your child’s teacher during the school day; however, teachers may not always be able to respond right away as they are actively teaching and supervising children in class. They will certainly get back to you as soon as they can, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. If you need immediate assistance, please call or email the school directly.
๐ Snack & Lunchbox GUIDELINES
- We are a peanut-free and nut-free school. When sending in goodies for a class party, please make sure all items are store-bought, peanut and tree nut free, and made in a nut-free facility. Please also make sure all goodies have ingredient labels. This is very important to help keep all of our children safe.
- No glass containers are permitted.
- Foods not allowed due to choking hazards include: popcorn, candy, celery, carrots, hot dogs/meat, meat sticks/jerky, beans, corn, and peas.
- Please cut grapes, strawberries, apples, cucumbers, and cheese sticks before sending them to school.
๐ต Tuition & PAYMENTS
Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. Payments received after the 3rd will incur a $35 late fee.
Accepted payment methods:
• Check (made payable to WT Of Miller Place INC.)
• Cash
• Zelle
๏ปฟ
If you anticipate being late, please communicate with us before the 3rd, and we will gladly waive the late fee. Failure to communicate will result in the late fee being applied.
At the time of registration, we require a $100 registration fee along with the last month’s tuition. Both payments are non-refundable.
Registration for the following school year begins in April.
๐คง ILLNESS POLICY
At Wisdom Tree Preschool, the health and safety of our children and staff is very important to us. We understand that deciding whether your child is well enough to attend school can sometimes be difficult. The following guidelines are in place to help reduce the spread of illness and keep our classrooms healthy and safe for everyone.
Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well or are unable to comfortably participate in daily classroom activities.
๏ปฟ
Children must remain home if they have experienced any of the following within the past 24 hours:
• Fever of 100°F or higher
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Persistent coughing or excessive nasal discharge
• Strep throat
• Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
• Rash (If a rash is present, a doctor’s note is required before returning to school.)
If your child has any type of skin condition, including rashes, bumps, unexplained marks, or other skin irritations, we do require a doctor’s note stating that the child is cleared to attend school and is not contagious. This helps us maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children and staff.
If your child requires Tylenol, Motrin, or another fever-reducing medication in the morning in order to attend school, they may need additional time at home to rest and recover.
Children may return to school once they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.
If your child is sent home from school due to illness, a doctor’s note may be required for them to return the following day.
We kindly ask families to notify the school if their child will be absent due to illness.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in helping us maintain a healthy environment for all of our little learners.
โฐ Before & After Care
We offer 30 minutes of before care or after care for 2½-hour classes only (not available for 3-hour classes).
- Available at daily or monthly rates
- One option only (before or after care)
- Please notify us one week in advance๏ปฟ
๐ Required Documents BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS
Please provide:
- Updated immunization record
- Copy of driver’s license for all approved pick-up persons
- Written notice of any pick-up restrictions
- EPI-PEN documentation and instructions, if applicable
๏ปฟThese can be submitted during the Meet & Greet.
